Aspheric Lenses: Molded & Precision Polished

Thorlabs offers both precision polished and molded glass aspheric lenses. The aspheres are available with or without AR (anti-reflection) coatings. The surface of an aspheric lens is designed (wavelength dependent) to eliminate spherical aberration, which allows for the spot size and collimation of a monochromatic beam of light to be diffraction limited. Aspheres are frequently used to collimate or couple light from or into optical fiber. Acylindrical lenses are designed to offer the advantages of aspheres in one-dimensional focusing applications.
