Includes Clamping and Reverse Protection Diodes to Suppress ESD
Available with DB9 Connector for Mating Directly with LDC200C Series Laser Controllers
The SR9 Series of strain relief and ESD protection products offer a convenient and safe means of connecting your Ø5.6 mm or Ø9 mm laser diode to our line of Laser Diode Controllers. Each model comes with a laser socket mounted to a small Printed Circuit Board. The PCB contains a Schottky diode to clamp any reverse voltages that might appear across the laser diode, as well as a Zener diode to shunt any excessive voltages or ESD away from the diode.
Each model corresponds to one or more of the standard Pin Styles for laser diodes (see the diagram below) and is compatible with our LT Series Collimation Tubes. SR9 models are designed for laser diodes with forward voltages of 3.3 V, while SR9H models are designed for laser diodes with a maximum forward voltage of 7.5 V. Each strain relief is available with or without a DB9 connector. All -DB9 models are pin compatible with our Laser Diode Controllers.

Response from Sean at Thorlabs: Thank you for your feedback. I have updated the LaserPort presentation (http://www.thorlabs.com/NewGroupPage9.cfm?ObjectGroup_ID=4367) with this comment. Additionally, our engineers are looking into ways to improve our LaserPort line, specifically improving the compatibility of our SR9 cables with the LaserPorts.

I bought the SR9 cable as it was recommended for use with the Laser Port but as it does not mate with Laser Port there is no strain relief, only electrical protection. This should be made clear in the recommendation.

In connection to one of the posts below. We tried to connect a C-style diode via the SR9C protection today with no success. When testing the connections it would seem that that pin 3 and pin one is swapped on the output. This was the case for all three protection circuits we had lying in a drawer. I don't know how old these are, but would you know if there has been bad batches of these shipped out??

Is it possible to increase the length of the cable to 3 feet, the current 2 feet is a bit short as the LDC series controlers are best positioned off the optical table.

I recently bought a Style E strain relief cable, as this was the one recommend for the FPL1055 (anode grounded) diode. The schematic on the website from the Style E cable (SR9HE) has the pins correctly displayed for an anode grounded diode, however the product I received (including the spec sheet) was configured for a cathode ground diode. I had to resolder the diodes myself to get it to work. Also notice the drawing for this product has the cathode grounded which doesnt match up with the website information.
In brief, your Style E cable is configured exactly backwards from what it is advertised as and need to be fixed immediately.

A reply from Jens at Thorlabs: we can offer almost every subcomponent used in any of our products, in this case the Tube itself, Retaining Ring, Rubber O-Ring, and Adapter for 5.6 mm diodes. We will contact you with price/lead time via email.
Also to make the process of ordering the subcomponents easier we have added a link to our techsupport email box to this section of the web.

Lens Mount with Collimating Optic for our SR9 Laser Diode Mounts
Threaded Retaining Ring Holds Ø5.6 mm or Ø9 mm Laser Diode in Collimation Tube
Diffraction-Limited Aspheric Collimation Optic that is AR Coated for 650 - 1050 nm
Includes Main Tube, Optic, Retaining Ring, Rubber O-Ring, and Adapter for 5.6 mm Packages
Mount in SM1-Compatible Mounts Using an AD15F Adapter
Retaining Ring Compatible with SPW301 and SPW801 Spanner Wrenches
Other Wavelength Ranges and Collimation Optics The Laser Diode Collimation Tube is shipped with the aspheric lens premounted. However, a different aspheric lens can be substituted for better performance at different wavelengths. Any of our M9 x 0.5 threaded mounted aspheric lenses are compatible with these collimation tubes. Please contact Tech Support if you would like to purchase the collimation tube without the aspheric lens (collimation optic), or with a different lens.
I dont understand why you dont add LT230P-A and LT230P-C to your product lists. Although the tube and lens can be ordered separately by contacting your representatives, it will be easier to shop on line and pay by credit card if the one with different coatings has its own part number.

Hi:
I would like to buy only the collimation tube, which is included in the collimation package "LT230P-B". Is this possible?
Best regards,
Jonas Metz

for information theres a mistake (that almost got me !) on the AutoCAD PDF file of the collimation tube LT240 (8mm FL):
the internal thread is M12x0.5, not M9 as indicated.

it will be great if you can have separate part number for the tubes, and does not include the lens so people can order online easily

Dear Sir / Madam, I saw your website and impressed by Laser Diode Collimators products. We try to manufacture prototype laser rangefinder with diode laser that specified below. For this we need an optics unit to reduce beam divergence to 0.5 mrad. We search some companies and find your system can be useful for ours. If you can support us we hare very glad to hear about your suggestion. We have a diode laser that specification as below: 1. Partnumber: 905D3S3J08R 2. Company: Laser Components 3. Wavelength: 905 nm 4. Peakpower: 210 W 5. Beam Spread (50% peak intensity) Parallel: 11 degrees Perpendicular: 25 degrees 6. Emitting Area: 200 um* 250 um 7. Package: R= 9 mm CD 8. Laser windows Thickness: 0.25 mm 9. Datasheet: http://www.lasercomponents.com/uk/fileadmin/user_upload/home/Datasheets/lcc/905d3j09.pdf 10. Quantity: 5 pcs I appreciate it if you could give me an estimate of the cost and some information about delivery time, Shipping. Thanks & Best regards

It would be useful if ThorLabs sold Collimation Tubes with optics coated for 1050 to 1500nm as well.

A response from Greg at Thorlabs to aidi: The LT230P-B is compatible with the SR9A-DB9, but neither is compatible with the ITC502. In order to temperature controller your laser, you need a TEC element. If you are looking for a collimated laser that you can also temperature control, I suggest looking at our Fiber Pigtailed Lasers and using one with our TCLDM9 TEC mount. You will then need a laser diode driver and TEC controller. If you have further questions, please let me know via e-mail.

Is this SR9A-DB9 can work together with LT230P-B collimation tube and ITC502 Temperature controller? Thank you
