The LMR Series of fixed optics mounts are a convenient way to mount Ø1" optics on TR Series posts via the #8-32 (M4) tapped hole on the base of the mount. Each LMR series part has an internally threaded hole equipped with a back edge lip on which the optic rests. The retaining ring included with each mount can then be used to secure the optic in place by sandwiching the optic between the back lip and the retaining ring. Additional retaining rings can be purchased separately, including stress free retaining rings for select diameters. The LMR series of fixed optics mounts are also used as a mount to hold optical components with external SM1 threading.
These fixed lens mounts have internal SM threading on one side and external SM threading on the other as well as a #8-32 (M4) tapped mounting hole on the bottom. The optic is secured in the mount with the included retaining ring. Essentially, it is a lens tube that can be attached to a TR-Series Post. The internal threading is deep enough to hold an unmounted optic up to 0.28" (7.1 mm) thick, while the external threading is just deep enough to mount lens tubes, irises, or other internally threaded SM components (see picture to the right). The functionality of this part can be duplicated by combining two other Thorlabs parts: a lens tube slip ring and a lens tube. Comparatively, this fixed lens mount offers greater convenience and cost savings.
Post Mountable via #8-32 (M4) Tap
This mount allows an SM1 threaded lens tube to be mounted to a TR series post via an #8-32 (M4) tap on the bottom of the mount. The SMR1 (SMR1/M) has an internally SM1 (1.035"-40) threaded hole straight through the mount, allowing externally SM1 threaded components to be attached.
The KB1P mount has back plate to which a removable mounting carriage can be magnetically coupled. This mount is designed for applications that require a Ø1" optical element, like a lens, to be periodically inserted and removed for an optical setup with a high degree of precision. The magnetically coupled mounting carriage eliminates the need to align the optic when it is reinserted into the setup. For stability, precision, and repeatability, the mounting carriage contacts the back plate at three points. Each point of contact is a ball bearing on the mounting carriage resting in the groove formed by two parallel steel pins. The coupling force is provided by pairs of rare earth magnets.
PF10-03-M01 Ø1" Gold Mirror Mounted in NX1
The NX1 is a 15-position, indexed kinematic mount for Ø1" optics that is ideal for redirecting a laser to multiple targets on an optical table. Each indexed position is labeled by a letter, and the top plate returns to any given position with a repeatability of better than 10 µrad.
Three 8-32 (M4) tapped mounting holes in the bottom plate can be used to secure the NX1 to a TR series post. Alternatively, the bottom plate can also be secured to a 1/4"-20 (M6) tapped optical table or breadboard using an APE25E (AP6M4M) adapter.

These nested lens mount sets are comprised of an inner optic carriage and an outer mounting ring (sold separately). This allows easy exchange of optics while maintaining optical alignment. The "-A" inner carriage is radially laser engraved with graduation marks every 2° and labeled every 20°. The LM1-A carriage accepts Ø1"(25 mm) optics up to a thickness of 0.38" (9.6 mm) into its SM1 (1.035"-40) threaded bore. The mating LM1-B positionally locks the LM1-A with a top-located thumbscrew and is post-mountable via a bottom #8-32 (M4) tapped hole. Each LM1-A includes one SM1RR retaining ring for fastening optics within the SM1 (1.035"-40) bore.
Post and Rod Mounted for Greater Flexibility
Detent Force at 0º and 90º, Lockable Across Entire Range
The TRF90 Filter Mount combines versatility in a compact, easy-to-operate design. The TRF90 can be post mounted as an individual unit or ER rod-mounted for stacking filters in a series. Since the depth of the filter mount is 0.5" (13 mm), the minimum length of the ER rod needed when creating a stack of filters is the number of filters mounts being stacked times 0.5" (13 mm). A precision detent mechanism provides holding force at the 0° and 90° positions while a nylon setscrew allows the mount to be locked.
Please note that the threaded hole used to attach the post to the filter mount goes all the way through to the rotation mechanism. Be sure that no more than 0.2" (5 mm) of the screw on top of the post is threaded into the filter mount in order to prevent the binding of the rotation mechanism.
The HCS031 allows most Thorlabs SM1 based products to be mounted to any stage using the standard 3 mm wide alignment groove. The optical axis height of this mount is 18 mm, which requires any accessory being used in the same system to be fitted with the AMA093 Shim Block detailed below.
The AMA093 Shim Block fits under any Thorlabs accessory and increases the optical axis height to 18 mm to match the HCS031. The shim block includes two mounting cleats, with extended screws, to fasten accessories to the top deck of the stage.
