SM2-Compatible Fixed Mounts
Nested Ø2" Optics Mount
These SM2-threaded (2.035"-40) mounts allow a variety of optical components to be integrated into optomechanical setups. Each of these mounts features an 8-32 (M4) tapped hole at the base, allowing them to be mounted on our Ø1/2" posts. These fixed mounts allow for versatility and flexibility in optomechanical constructions due to compatibility with SM2-threaded lens tubes, irises and adapters.
The LMR2(/M) Fixed Optic Mount is a convenient way to mount Ø2" optics on TR Series posts using the 8-32 (M4) tapped hole on the base of the mount. Each LMR series part has an internally SM2-threaded hole equipped with a back edge lip on which the optic rests. The retaining ring included with each mount can be used to secure the optic in place by sandwiching the optic between the back lip and the retaining ring. As an alternative to the included SM2RR retaining ring, the SM2LTRR retaining ring for stress-free mounting can be purchased separately. The LMR series of fixed optics mounts are also used as a mount to hold optical components with external SM2 threads.
The LMR2(/M) is available individually and in 5 packs for ordering convenience. Each mount in the LMR2(/M)-P5 5 pack also includes its own SM2RR retaining ring.
These fixed lens mounts have internal SM2 threading on one side and external SM2 threading on the other. The optic is secured in the mount with the included retaining ring and the mount has an 8-32 (M4) tapped hole for mounting to a Ø1/2" post.
The internal threading is deep enough to hold an unmounted optic up to 0.36" (9.1 mm) thick, while the external threading is just deep enough to mount lens tubes, irises, or other internally threaded SM components. Although functionality of this part can be duplicated by combining a lens tube slip ring and a lens tube, this fixed lens mount offers a smaller package size.
This SM2-Threaded Lens Tube Post Mount features internal SM2 threads that extend the full length of the mount without any retaining lip. It is perfect for mounting lens tubes as well as mounted optics, and can also be used to hold unmounted optics when used with two SM2RR retaining rings (sold separately).
Please note that the SMR2(/M) does not include retaining rings, and two SM2RR retaining rings will be needed to hold unmounted Ø2" optics with this mount.
These nested lens mount sets are comprised of an inner optic carriage and an outer mounting ring (each sold separately). This allows easy exchange of optics while maintaining optical alignment. The LM2-A inner carriage is radially laser engraved with graduation marks every 2°, labeled every 20°. The LM2-A carriage directly accepts Ø2" (50 mm) optics up to a thickness of 0.48" (12.2 mm) into its SM2 (2.035"-40) threaded bore. The mating LM2-B positionally locks the LM2-A with a top-located thumbscrew and is post-mountable via a bottom #8-32 (M4) tapped hole. Each LM2-A includes one SM2RR retaining ring for fastening optics within the SM2 (2.035"-40) bore.
The TR2F90 can be post mounted as an individual unit or ER-cage-rod-mounted for stacking filters in a series. Since the depth of the filter mount is 0.6" (15 mm), the minimum length of the ER rod needed when creating a stack of filters is the number of filter mounts being stacked times 0.6" (15 mm). A precision detent mechanism provides holding force at the 0° and 90° positions, while a nylon setscrew allows the mount to be locked.
Please note that the threaded hole used to attach the post to the filter mount goes all the way through to the rotation mechanism. Be sure that no more than 0.2" (5 mm) of the screw on top of the post is threaded into the filter mount in order to prevent the binding of the rotation mechanism.
