Features
Thorlabs offers standard two-adjuster kinematic mirror mounts for Ø7 mm, Ø10 mm, Ø1/2", Ø1", or Ø2" optics. These mounts offer an angular adjustment range of ±4° (±3° for the KM200 and KM200CP), are all mountable in left- or right-handed orientations, and secure the mirror at three points using a nylon-tipped locking screw and a double-bored mounting hole. The knobs on the Ø1" and Ø2" mounts are removable, as shown in the video to the right, and feature a through-hole design allowing fine adjustment with a hex key while the knobs are still attached. Mounts that center the front surface of a mirror over the center of the mounting post are also available. This design allows a beam incident at 45° to be easily aligned with an optical table's hole matrix. For your convenience, the popular KM100 and KM200 mounts can be purchased prepackaged with one of our broadband dielectric-coated mirrors at a discount to the individual component prices; please see the product listings below for the available selection. More information regarding the general specifications and the reflectivity of each coating across its spectral range is available under the Mirror Info tab above. Thorlabs offers a variety of other two and three adjuster mirror mounts, including SM-threaded mounts and our high-stability Polaris® Mirror Mounts. A complete presentation of the available information on the broadband dielectric coated mirrors that come premounted in the KM series of kinematic mirror mounts can be seen by following this link. However, the general specifications, spectral operating range, and the reflectivity as a function of wavelength for an unpolarized beam incident at 45° is shown below.

The stable and compact KM05(/M) Mirror Mount is ideal for OEM applications. A setscrew secures the mirror along the two lines of contact created by a double bore. The two 3/16"-100 actuators utilize a hex socket to minimize accidental movement in shared facilities, and they can be adjusted using our 5/64" hex key adjusters, sold below. We offer centering plates to center our standard KM05(/M) mount over the center of a Ø1/2" post, as well as the KM05T(/M) SM05-Threaded (0.535"-40) Kinematic Mount for optics up to 0.15" (4 mm) thick. ![]() ![]() Click to Enlarge The KM05CP places the optic's front surface over the center of the post.
The KM05CP(/M) Ø1/2" Kinematic Mirror Mount is designed to center the front surface of a mirror over the center of the mounting post. This design allows for coarse rotational adjustment without beam walkoff by rotating the mounting post. The mount can be attached to a Ø1/2" Post or Ø1" Post via one of two 8-32 (M4) tapped holes for either a right- or left-handed adjuster orientation. A beam incident at 45° can be easily aligned with a table's hole matrix when this mount is aligned over or mounted directly into a table hole. The unique design of the KM05CP(/M) incorporates the post-mounting feature into the fixed, rear plate of the mount, which is also where the brass bushings are found. By having the bushings in the fixed plate, as opposed to the movable plate, the instability of the mount is greatly reduced during adjustments. As with our standard KM05(/M) mount, our post-centering mount is designed with two 3/16"-100 adjusters that yield ±4° of fine angular adjustment, and a resolution of 13 mrad (0.75°) per revolution. The mirror is locked in place with a nylon-tipped locking screw that can be tightened with a 5/64" hex key or balldriver. While our standard KM05(/M) mount centers the optic 0.58" (14.7 mm) above the post, the KM05CP(/M) centers the optic 0.83" (21.1 mm) above the post due to the design of the post mounting feature. The KMCP adapter can also be used to center our standard KM05(/M) mount over the center of a post. ![]() ![]() Click to Enlarge KM100 Shown with a PIAK10 Piezoelectric Inertia Actuator ![]() Click to Enlarge Removable Knobs
